Life is worth living

The Nest

The Life Is Worth Living workplace and primary respite location, ‘The Nest’, provides an inclusive safe home-based hub, where people feel welcomed, have a sense of belonging, and are part of the community.

The Nest, in Central Geelong, offers numerous opportunities to develop long-term, sustainable social and life skills transferable to daily living. All stays are one-on-one and tailored to the individual’s needs.

Every team member is dedicated to making a difference in participants’ lives by being innovative and intentional in everything they do.

We work with the broader care team to implement individual strategies to achieve their goals, thereby closing the loop in communication.

Transition to Supported Independent Living

The Challenge

  • Unable to find experienced support workers with the skills to help transition to supported independent living.
  • Respite locations are too sterile and not like a real home!
  • Have to share with other participants.
  • Standard program not customised to individual needs.
  • Shared program with larger client /support worker ratios!
  • High staff turnover over the period of transition?
  • Lack of collaboration with the broader care team?
  • House-trained dog not permitted to stay.

The Solution

Customised Respite Support Services incorporating daily life skills for successful independent living outcomes.

  • Short-term accommodation that doesn’t feel like “being sent away for respite”.
  • Exclusive one-on-one support
  • Intentional programs at an individual pace.
  • A comforting and supportive environment that fosters growth and well-being.
  • Progressive exposure to build skills needed for independent living.
  • Collaboration with the broader care team
  • Long-term staff ensuring continuity of care
  • House-trained dogs may be able to stay with you – contact us to discuss.
